Auburndale vs. Winter Haven: Where Should You Live?

A lakeside neighbourhood in Polk County, Florida

Just east of Lakeland sit two towns buyers often compare: Auburndale and Winter Haven. Both offer that small-town Polk County feel with lakes everywhere. Here is how I help people choose.

Auburndale in a nutshell

Auburndale is smaller and quieter, with a tight community feel and easy access to Lakeland and I-4. Buyers who want a calm, friendly base with a quick reach to bigger towns tend to like it.

Winter Haven in a nutshell

Winter Haven is a bit larger and busier, known for its chain of lakes and Legoland nearby. There is more to do close to home, and a wider range of neighborhoods and price points.

How to decide

It comes down to pace and priorities. Want the quieter, simpler feel and a shorter hop to Lakeland? Lean Auburndale. Want more amenities, lake life, and options? Lean Winter Haven.

Don’t forget the commute

Both work well for commuters, but your daily drive will differ depending on which side you are on. Test it at the time you would actually travel before you decide.
