What you will find inside
50+ Florida friendly edible plants. From vegetables and herbs to tropical and subtropical edibles. Each profile helps you understand what the plant needs before you commit space to it.
When to plant it. One of the biggest mistakes Florida gardeners make is growing the right plant at the wrong time. You get planting guidance for zones 8b through 11b so you can stop following a calendar written for somewhere else.
Can I grow it in a pot? I included this on purpose. Not everybody has a giant yard, and not every plant needs to go in the ground. The book helps you spot which plants work in containers and what to think about before you pot them up.
Florida soil and sun. Our soil and our sun come with their own set of problems. I break down what each plant needs without turning gardening into a chemistry class.
Pests and problems to watch. I would rather tell you what usually goes wrong before you discover it after half the plant disappears overnight.
The things nobody tells you. These are some of my favorite parts of the book. The little lessons you usually learn after growing the plant yourself. Sometimes after killing it first.
What do I do with it once I grow it? Because growing food is only half the fun. I included ideas and kitchen notes for using some of what you harvest.
